About SavifaDok

SavifaDok, the digital repository of Savifa - the Virtual Library South Asia, is an electronic platform for publishing and archiving academic literature in the field of South Asian studies and Indology.
SavifaDok is a joint service of the Library of the South Asia Institute in Heidelberg in co-operation with the University Library Heidelberg which offers people with a research interest in South Asia the possibility to publish their work in electronic format and make it available through the World Wide Web. The documents will be stored and their long-term availability guaranteed by using standardized addresses (URN) (OAI-PMH). All publications are accessible through German union catalogues and search engines, thereby gaining high visibility for the documents. SavifaDok supports the aims of the "Budapest Open Access Initiative" (BOAI) and the principles of Open Access. The Library of the South Asia Institute provides reference in:


The geographic and thematic scope follows the guidelines of the German Research Foundation (DFG) for the special subject collection "South Asia" (SSG 6,24).

    Document types

    On SavifaDok we publish the following document types:

    • Dissertations / theses, or any other monograph
    • Articles, journals, series and research papers
    • Pre-prints, if the copyright is with the author and/or editor
    • Master theses or term papers, if it is recommended by a referee

    All documents published on SavifaDok have to comply with scientific methods. Furthermore, there must not be any doubt about the scientific reliability of the publication. In individual cases, the Savifa-Team reserves the right to refuse publication of a document.
